FAQs

What is the difference between botulinum toxin type A (Botox) and Filler?

Botox is a popular brand of botulinum toxin, is a non-surgical solution aimed at reducing lines and wrinkles. By temporarily relaxing facial muscles, Botox prevents wrinkles and fine lines from forming. It works by blocking the transmission of acetylcholine in muscle fibres, reducing movement and softening existing lines. To ensure natural results and to minimise risks, it's vital to choose a skilled practitioner with in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy.

Dermal fillers, made from hyaluronic acid, are another excellent way to restore a youthful appearance. They add volume to areas of the face affected by natural fat loss, rejuvenating your facial appearance and creating a healthy, youthful look. Different formulations of fillers are used to enhance specific areas, ensuring results that complement your natural beauty.

I order my aesthetic supplies from reputable online pharmacies, and use high quality products. As a pharmacist, I understand the importance of ensuring the medicines have been manufactured and handled in a way that ensures the highest levels of safety for my clients.

Do treatments hurt?

All treatments are administered via injection so can cause discomfort. A very fine needle is used to administer treatment, resulting in discomfort and/ or pain.

Prior to administration of dermal filler, I can offer to apply a cream which can numb the skin to help reduce pain. The product injected also contains local anaesthetic (unless you have an allergy in which case an alternative product would be used) which further helps reduce pain. All treatments are administered extremely carefully taking as much time as you require.

At what age can I begin treatment?

Only those over the age of 18 are permitted to undergo treatment. All treatments involve a face to face consultation at the outset, where we can work together to plan how we can achieve your goals. We can then select the right products and tailor doses to you.

How often will I need treatment?

Botox treatments typically provide noticeable results that last around 3 months, after which muscle movement gradually returns, and further treatment may be needed to maintain your desired look. It's important to note that the rate at which botulinum toxin is metabolised can vary between individuals, affecting how long the results last.

Dermal fillers, on the other hand, often have longer-lasting results. For example, lip fillers can maintain their plumping effect for up to 1 year, depending on the type of filler used and individual factors. During your consultation, we’ll provide detailed information about the longevity of your chosen treatment and discuss the upkeep required to keep your results looking fresh and natural.
